I recently had the pleasure of meeting Jez and Kate at St Paul’s Centre, based at St Paul’s Church in Hightown, Crewe – just off West Street. What they’re doing every Friday morning is something truly worth shouting about, especially if you’re a fan of a good rummage, a vintage find, or simply love grabbing a bargain while doing some good.
What’s it all about?
Every Friday from 9.30am to 12.30pm, St Paul’s Centre runs a fantastic community sale offering a wide range of pre-loved items including:
-
Furniture
-
Textiles
-
Bric-a-brac
-
Bicycles
-
Home essentials
-
And all sorts of hidden gems
This isn’t just any jumble sale – it’s a well-organised, well-attended event that regularly attracts over 200 people each week. Whether you’re furnishing your home, picking up a few bits, or just browsing for something unique, there’s bound to be something that catches your eye.
Why it matters
Every single pound spent at the Friday sale goes straight back into the local community. The money raised helps fund an impressive range of support services, including:
-
Emergency food parcels
-
Affordable furniture referrals
-
Adult learning and training
-
Cycle repairs
-
Reuse and recycling initiatives
So, while you’re picking up a bargain, you’re also directly supporting people in need across Crewe and the wider Cheshire East area. It’s a brilliant example of how circular economy thinking can be put into action locally.
Home delivery available
For those purchasing larger items, the Centre also offers a local delivery service, usually the same day, for around £15. Smaller items can be collected from the rear gate – making it easy and flexible for shoppers of all kinds.
Can’t make it on a Friday?
Don’t worry – you can also browse and buy items from St Paul’s Centre on their eBay store. It’s another great way to support their work while shopping from the comfort of your own home. You’ll find a curated selection of items online here:
