Crewe was alive with colour, music and community spirit on Saturday as the Crewe Day Festival brought thousands of people into the heart of the town to enjoy a packed programme of parades, live entertainment, creative workshops and more.
From the moment the giant puppets appeared on the streets, led by the incredible Autin Dance Theatre and Global Grooves, it was clear this was going to be a day to remember. The parades drew huge crowds and delighted spectators of all ages, creating a vibrant atmosphere right across the town centre.
Live performances kept the energy high throughout the day, with sets from The Swinging Woodpeckers, Crewe Concert Band, Stepz School of Dance & Acrobatics, and the brilliant Faye McCallum Music. The artisan market, organised by JDL Mini Markets, added a buzzing, independent flavour, with stalls offering everything from handmade crafts to delicious treats.
A special shoutout goes to the parade community cast, who took part in the lead-up workshops and brought so much joy to the parades themselves. Huge thanks to:
Hopes and Beams, Camm Street Gymnastics, TGA Street Dance Crewe, Stepz Dance Group, and Wilderness Tribe – your energy and enthusiasm were inspiring!
🎨 Families also got stuck into creative activities run by CreweCreates and Crewe Lyceum, with plenty of fun crafts on offer throughout the day.
🎤 Thanks as well to The Cat Radio, who did a brilliant job of keeping everyone informed and entertained with announcements across the site.
📸 The day was beautifully captured by volunteer photographer Peter Robinson – you can see many of his photos on the Crewe Town Council web site here. They are way better than mine!
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the fantastic Crewe Town Council Events Team, whose hard work, planning and dedication made the whole day run smoothly and successfully. Thank you for creating such a joyful celebration of Crewe’s creativity, talent and community spirit.
A massive thank you to everyone who supported the event. Whether you performed, volunteered, ran a stall, joined a parade or simply came along to soak up the atmosphere – you helped make it a day to remember. And a day to make Crewe proud.
Looking forward to seeing you at the next one!
Just time to finish off the day with a quick drink in Crewe Market hall!
