I’ve had lots of residents, especially parents and young people – asking me if we can get some football goal posts installed in Leighton Brook Park.
I’ve been working with a group of local young people, who’ve been out in the area speaking to others to see what kind of support this idea might have. There’s definitely interest – and now I’d like to hear from the wider community before taking it any further.
The idea is simple: a set of football goal posts for informal, everyday use – giving people a space for a casual kickabout, keeping active, and enjoying time outdoors.
Here’s what we’re thinking:
-
A pair of fixed football goals installed on the grass in Leighton Brook Park, Frank Webb Avenue
-
Free for everyone to use
-
Aimed at casual play, and use by community groups such as Wishing Well for their Street Sports sessions
Before we move forward, I want to make sure this is something the whole community can get behind. That means hearing all views – whether you’re totally in favour or have any concerns.
