Good news for residents and road users: initial repairs on Minshull New Road have now been prioritised following the campaign I’ve been raising about the road’s condition.
Work is scheduled to start on Wednesday 18th March and is expected to take approximately two days, running between 9.30am and 3.30pm, weather permitting.
Many of you will know that Minshull New Road is one of the worst roads in St Barnabas ward, and I’ve been pushing for improvements here. While the road still needs full resurfacing, I’m pleased to see my efforts beginning to make a difference, with these safety improvements now prioritised. It’s a positive step forward.

What to expect during the works:
- Signage and no-waiting cones will be in place in advance of work starting
- Teams working on the carriageway and footway, with machinery and vehicles on site
- Barriered areas to create safe working zones, following Health & Safety guidance
- Access to properties and businesses will be maintained where possible, though some short delays or inconvenience may occur
- Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times
How you can help:
Residents on this section of Minshull New Road are asked to keep the road clear of parked cars between 9.30am and 3.30pm while work is underway.
The highways team will make every effort to minimise disruption, and Traffic Management Officers will be on site to assist and ensure safety throughout the works.
Thank you to everyone who has raised this issue with me and helped keep the pressure on – your support is making a difference!
