I had such a brilliant time at the Underwood West Academy Summer Fair this afternoon. I was there both as a councillor and a school governor, but honestly, it was just great to be part of such a fun, lively event.
The sun was out (almost!), the school field was packed, and the atmosphere was buzzing. It was lovely to see so many families, friends and local residents coming together to enjoy the afternoon – proper community spirit in action.
There was loads going on – from stalls and games to glitter face painting and some seriously tasty treats, drinks and food. The inflatables were definitely a big hit with the kids (and quite a few adults too, if we’re being honest). But my personal favourite? Splat the Rat. Classic, silly, and way harder than it looks – you had to be really quick if you wanted to win a prize! Well done to everyone who did!
A huge thank you to all the amazing staff and volunteers who made the fair happen. These things take a lot of organising behind the scenes, and it all ran so smoothly – you could really see the care and effort that had gone into it.
And thanks as well to everyone who came along and supported the day. Your presence – and your pennies – all go towards helping the school and the children, and that makes a real difference.
It was such a lovely afternoon, and it reminded me once again why I’m proud to serve this community. Looking forward to the next one already!
