What did we achieve across the last year in Crewe St Barnabas?
Let’s take a look back at the year that was 2024!
As 2024 came to a close, I took a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made together in Crewe St Barnabas. From community clean-ups to improvements in safety, parks, and public spaces, it’s been a busy and productive year for our ward.
Here are just some of the highlights:
-
Community litter picks with Leighton Academy and local residents
-
Tackling fly-tipping across the ward in partnership with Guinness Housing and Cheshire East Council
-
Cleaning up alleyways, including areas around Frank Webb Avenue and Timbrell Avenue
-
Hosting free events like the football day with Crewe Alex and pop-up park sessions for families, supported by Crewe Town Council and Everybody Leisure
-
Street sports activities for young people with Wishing Well
-
Road safety improvements – including pothole repairs, fresh road markings, and the setup of a new Community Speed Watch team
-
Securing funding for a new school crossing patrol officer for the Frank Webb Avenue and Badger Avenue junction near Underwood West Academy
-
Installing new playground safety signs on Frank Webb Avenue to protect children heading to Leighton Brook Park
-
Resurfacing roads on Windsor Avenue, Sandiway Road, and Foulkes Avenue
-
Keeping residents informed through local newsletters and updates
-
Improving the walk-to-school route for Leighton Academy by clearing footpaths and fixing drainage issues
-
Trimming trees on Frank Webb Avenue to enhance street lighting and clearing autumn leaves
-
Repairing and replacing streetlights around the area
-
Repairing alley gates and addressing drainage problems on Rolls Avenue, West Street, and Minshull New Road
-
Reversing proposed grass-cutting reductions and increasing maintenance in some areas
-
Removing a derelict bus shelter on Badger Avenue, which had become a hotspot for anti-social behaviour
-
Installing new benches and investing in Leighton Brook Park, including a £100,000 regeneration project with Crewe Town Council and the exciting addition of a dual zip line
-
Collaborating with Leighton Academy and Underwood West School on community initiatives, including a sign design competition
This is just a small glimpse of the work I carry out each day on behalf of residents in Crewe St Barnabas.
