On Monday, I had a very constructive meeting with Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner Dan Price and Inspector Josh Jones from Crewe Police. I want to thank both Dan and Josh for taking the time to meet and listen to the concerns raised by residents.
Together, we discussed the feedback many of you kindly shared with me through my recent community safety survey.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill in the survey or contact me directly. Every single issue raised was discussed, and both Dan and Josh were given a full copy of your comments, along with an antisocial behaviour (ASB) report I compiled myself based on what you told me and what I also see from living in our community.
A big thank you as well to the many residents who stopped by during the meeting to raise their concerns and have a chat – it was great to see people engaging directly and sharing their experiences first-hand.
I’m pleased to say that Dan and Josh were open and receptive to what you had to say. The key issues raised by residents included:
-
Speeding on residential streets, particularly Minshull New Road, Rolls Avenue, and parts of the community used as cut-throughs
-
Inconsiderate and dangerous parking, especially near junctions and on pavements – including areas like Frank Webb Avenue, Badger Avenue, and Clement Drive
-
Antisocial behaviour, including noise, reckless use of electric scooters and bikes, and disruptive behaviour in cut-throughs and car parks
-
Drug activity in certain areas and the need for stronger local enforcement
-
Poor police visibility, particularly during key times in the afternoon and evening
-
Concerns about children’s safety, including school routes, pavement parking and unsafe crossing points
-
Noise and nuisance vehicles, including modified cars and motorbikes
-
Aggressive dog ownership, including large dogs not under proper control
These are not easy issues to solve overnight, but what’s clear is that residents care deeply about their community – and that’s something to be proud of. The Police Commissioner and Crewe Police have assured me they are taking these concerns seriously, and we are now looking at practical steps that can be taken to address them.
As part of this, we’re exploring the idea of holding a public police meeting and Q&A session. This would give residents the opportunity to speak directly with the local policing team, ask questions, and receive updates on the work being done to tackle local concerns.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this idea – would you find a meeting useful? Please let me know what you think.
Please continue to raise issues that affect you. For any specific incidents or urgent concerns, always call 101 to report them directly to the police. For more general concerns or to share your views, you can complete the Residents’ Voice Survey and select St Barnabas Ward at the following link:

Remember, if someone is at risk or property is being damaged, always call 999 immediately.
Monday’s meeting was a positive step forward, and I’ll continue to work closely with Cheshire Police to make sure your voices are heard and followed up on. Thank you again to everyone who shared their feedback – your involvement really does make a difference.
