I wanted to provide an update on the community project at the corner of Westbourne Avenue and Frank Webb Avenue, which I updates residents on a few weeks ago.
The contractor from Guinness Housing has been on site, cutting down some deadwood trees and reinstating the path into the woodland area. This makes it much easier for everyone to access the space.

A big thank you to the local residents who have been helping most days with litter picking. Thanks to their efforts, the area is now almost entirely clear of years’ worth of litter, and they are continuing to cut back overgrowth to improve the space even further. We’d love members of our community involved.

I have also invited children from Underwood West and Leighton Academy to get involved with the project. They will be painting bird and bat boxes and visiting the site, helping to take an active role in improving their local area.
I have asked Guinness Housing and their contractor Idverde if they can provide a bench and a litter bin for this community space once the project is complete, so that residents have somewhere to sit and enjoy the area.

Would you like to be involved? We would love more members of the community to get involved. Please pop down, have a look at what’s being done, see who is working on the project, and join in if you can. Together we can make this woodland area a welcoming and enjoyable space for all. It is the area behind the bus stop near the Premier shop.

If you are interested in volunteering or have ideas for the project, please contact me, call me and leave a message on 01270 895352 (press option 6) – Or just pop down and get involved! Thank you for your continued support in keeping our St Barnabas ward community a great place to live.
