Following the recent litter pick I led with Year 5 pupils from Leighton Academy, which is now in its fifth year, I’d like to say a huge thank you to the students from the school’s After School Club who have put together some brilliant designs to help spread an anti-littering message in Leighton Brook Park.

The school litter pick has become a fantastic annual feature and it’s always great to see young people taking such an active interest in looking after their local environment. Building on that work, I asked students to create designs encouraging everyone who uses the park to take pride in it, look after it, and help keep it clean for everyone to enjoy.
The students came up with some fantastic ideas and designs. The messages are really on point, and there is some brilliant artwork on display too. It’s clear that they have put a lot of thought and effort into their work, and the standard of entries has been really high.
It wasn’t an easy task to choose, but five of the designs have been selected and will be displayed in Leighton Brook Park, where they’ll help remind visitors about the importance of taking their litter home or using the bins provided.
A huge thank you as well to Mrs Smith for all her help and support with the project. Her enthusiasm and encouragement have played a big part in making it such a success.
Most importantly, well done to all the students who took part. You should be very proud of your work and the positive contribution you’re making to our community. By helping to promote these important messages, you’re playing a real part in keeping Leighton Brook Park clean, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
Here are all the the runners up too – fantastic!
