If you’ve been following my updates, you’ll know Minshull New Road comes up a lot. I promise there are plenty of other things I’m working on across St Barnabas, but this road has been a problem for residents for years, so it’s worth keeping people updated.
Walking the Road, Reporting the Potholes
I make a point of walking the full length of Minshull New Road pretty much every week. I check every pothole and area of damage and report everything that meets the council’s repair criteria. Some of the potholes I’ve reported have been patched, which is good, but there are still some real whoppers that haven’t been touched.

I’ve raised concerns about this stretch of road directly with the head of highways at Cheshire East and I regularly feed back to the senior highways officer, so they know exactly what’s happening and which areas need attention.
This Road Needs Proper Repairs
Minshull New Road has been calling out for proper repairs for over three years. Temporary patching is fine in the short term, but the road really needs a proper fix. By walking it regularly and reporting issues, I can keep an up-to-date record and try to make sure nothing gets missed.

How You Can Help
If you spot a pothole, there’s a good chance I’ve already logged it if it’s in St Barnabas. If it’s somewhere else, or you notice something new, you can report it online or by phone: 0300 123 5020
The more eyes on the road, the better chance we have of getting these potholes fixed.
Keeping the Pressure On
Being a councillor isn’t just about meetings or paperwork. It’s about representing residents day-to-day, chasing the right organisations, and making sure concerns are heard. That’s what I’m doing with Minshull New Road – every walk, every report, every email keeps the pressure on for proper repairs.
If you see a problem in St Barnabas, or anything else in our area that needs attention, please do get in touch. Together, we can make our area safer and better maintained.
