Cleaning up graffiti in our area

Posted on 13 May 2025

I’ve been working hard to tackle graffiti across our area, and I’m really pleased to share some positive progress with you. Graffiti can have a big impact on how a place feels — and I know many local residents have been frustrated to see it popping up more frequently on street cabinets and utility boxes around Crewe.

So far, we’ve seen some great action:

✅ A huge thank you to LilaConnect, who were the first to respond after I raised concerns. Their team acted quickly to clean up several of their street cabinets, and they’ve done a cracking job. The difference is night and day — just take a look at the before and after shots from Frank Webb Avenue! 🧽✨

✅ I’m also pleased to say that BT Openreach have now cleaned up a number of their broadband cabinets around the area too. It’s great to see companies taking responsibility and helping to keep our community looking its best. 👏

❌ However, I’m still waiting on a response from Cheshire East Highways to deal with the graffiti on traffic light control boxes on Badger Avenue. I’ll keep chasing this up — these boxes are in busy locations and shouldn’t be left looking scruffy.

Graffiti might not seem like a major issue to some, but it can really affect how people feel about where they live. It contributes to a sense of neglect and can even encourage more antisocial behaviour. Keeping our streets clean and cared for sends a strong message that we value our community and take pride in our surroundings.

This is about more than just paint on a box — it’s about creating a place where people feel safe, respected, and proud to live. 💛

📍 If you spot graffiti — or any other local issue — please don’t ignore it. You can report it online here:

Together, let’s keep Crewe looking clean, welcoming, and full of pride. 🌟
