Minshull New Road potholes – Full resurfacing secured!

🚧 MINSHULL NEW ROAD – WE’VE GOT A DATE FOR THE FULL RESURFACING!

Residents will know I’ve been on at Cheshire East Highways for a long time about the terrible state of Minshull New Road.

I’ve reported the potholes, walked the road, taken photos, chased officers and kept raising it because quite frankly, the condition of the road was becoming unacceptable.

Back in March, I managed to secure interim repair work to tackle the worst sections.

But I made it very clear that this wasn’t good enough as a long-term solution.

The road needed resurfacing – and I kept pushing for it.

I’m therefore really pleased to now confirm that a FULL RESURFACING OF MINSHULL NEW ROAD, FROM BADGER AVENUE TO WEST STREET, IS CURRENTLY PLANNED TO START ON 10TH DECEMBER. 🎉

This is something I’ve worked hard to get secured for residents.

The March repairs were an important first step and better than the usual pothole tarmac bashing, but I wasn’t prepared to just accept a few temporary repairs and move on. I kept the pressure on until we got the proper job lined up.

And there has been plenty of other progress on our roads too.

I’ve recently secured work to improve Goulden Street, and work has also been carried out on Monks Lane.

Unfortunately, I’m not happy with the standard of the Monks Lane work. It isn’t quite up to the expectations I had, so I’ve already asked Highways for it to be reviewed and for remedial work to be considered.

I’ve also secured repair work for Hulme Street, which is currently planned for 28th September.

I’ll continue to keep the pressure on for the repairs needed to West Street too. Highways previously promised that work would be carried out during the summer school holidays, but unfortunately that hasn’t materialised.

I’ve already been back to Highways to ask why it hasn’t happened and what is now being done about it.

And I’ll keep pushing until I get an answer and, more importantly, until we get the repairs residents have been waiting for.

There’s still plenty more work to do across St Barnabas, but I’ll continue doing what I’ve always done:

See a problem. Raise it. Chase it. Keep the pressure on. And get results.

A lot of chasing. A lot of pressure. But most importantly, progress. 💪
