Armed Forces Weekend in Crewe was a resounding success, and it was fantastic to see so many residents, families, veterans and visitors come together in Queens Park to show their support for our service personnel – past and present.
The event truly had something for everyone. From the moment you arrived, it was clear how much thought and effort had gone into planning the day. A striking collection of military vehicles from all eras was one of the main attractions, drawing crowds of all ages. It was both moving and fascinating to see the evolution of our armed forces through these machines, each with a story to tell.
Queens Park was alive with colour and activity. Engaging displays, exhibitions, and memorabilia offered a glimpse into military history and life in service. Information stalls provided valuable resources for veterans, families, and those interested in getting involved or learning more about armed forces life.
One of the most positive aspects of the day was the support for future careers. A number of employers, including those offering military career pathways, were on hand to talk with visitors – providing job opportunities and advice to those thinking about their next steps.
Children were especially well catered for. The full Stanworths Funfair brought joy and excitement, with rides and attractions for all ages. There were electric children’s cars, face painting, glitter tattoos and lots of family-friendly fun to keep little ones entertained throughout the day.
Live entertainment kept the atmosphere buzzing. From singers performing hits from the 1950s and beyond, to energetic dog shows that had the crowd smiling and cheering, the event celebrated both our Armed Forces and the best of community spirit.

Authentic re-enactments offered a powerful look into life during wartime, and over 40 stalls sold everything from handmade crafts and unique gifts to delicious food and drink. A wide range of catering outlets ensured that there was something to suit every taste, with queues at many of them a testament to the quality on offer.

What made the day particularly special was the dedication of the individuals and groups behind the scenes. Months of hard work, planning and partnership came together to deliver a memorable event that did our community proud.
Armed Forces Day in Crewe was not just a celebration – it was a demonstration of gratitude, unity, and pride. Thank you to everyone who came, supported, volunteered, performed, and participated. Your efforts helped us pay tribute to our Armed Forces in a way that was meaningful, fun, and unforgettable.
I would also like to extend a special thanks to Steve, Audrey and Richard for their incredible dedication in bringing this event to life. From months of fundraising and careful planning to their tireless efforts throughout the weekend, their commitment was truly invaluable and made all the difference.
