Get ready, Crewe! This Saturday, 5th July, our town comes alive with the much-anticipated Crewe Day Festival – a fantastic celebration of Crewe’s rich heritage, vibrant community, and unique spirit. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or visiting for the day, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at this free, family-friendly event running from 12 noon to 6 pm across the town centre.
A Festival Rooted in History
Crewe Day marks the anniversary of the very first trains passing through Crewe Station back in 1837, a key moment that helped shape our town’s identity. This year’s festival honours that proud legacy with a lively programme that showcases the best of Crewe’s creativity and community pride.
What’s Happening on Saturday?
The highlight of the festival is the spectacular Saturday event, bursting with colour, music and performances. Here’s what you can look forward to:
-
Carnival Procession: Watch in awe as giant 13ft Carnival Queen puppets from Global Grooves parade through the streets, accompanied by dancers and performers from local groups like TGA Street Dance and Stepz School of Dance. It’s a vibrant, joyous sight not to be missed.
-
Giant Wheel Parade: Be amazed by the stunning Giant Wheel performance from Autin Dance, featuring local gymnasts and dancers adding flair and excitement to the celebrations.
-
Live Music and Street Performances: Wander around town and enjoy a variety of live performances from local musicians and artists bringing the streets to life.
-
Artisan Market: Discover unique crafts and handmade goods at the JDL Mini Markets, perfect for picking up a special gift or souvenir.
-
Fairground Fun: For the young and young at heart, Stanworth’s Fairground on Queensway offers classic rides and attractions to keep the fun going all afternoon.
Join in the Fun!
If you love being part of the action, community workshops held earlier in the week have prepared performers to dazzle during the parade. This is a true celebration by Crewe, for Crewe.
