Parking Problems on Mayfield Mews – Sign the petition and have your say!

I’m asking residents on Mayfield Mews for their support to help tackle the ongoing parking problems around Mayfield Mews.

Many residents have raised concerns about:

• Cars parking dangerously close to the junction with Minshull New Road
• Vehicles parking on bends, making it hard to see oncoming traffic
• The road becoming effectively single-lane, causing delays and forcing drivers to reverse
• Serious access issues for emergency vehicles, particularly to the care home at the end of the cul-de-sac

At the moment, most of these cars are legally parked, except those within 10 metres of the junction, which is not allowed under the Highway Code. However, even when it’s legal, the current situation is clearly not safe.

What I’ve Done So Far

• Met with Bentley Motors to raise the issue of staff and contractor parking
• Met with Cheshire East Highways to explore introducing parking restrictions on the entrance to Mayfield Mews

I’ve been following this up, but now I need your support to show the council that residents want action.

Subject: Request for Parking Restrictions on Mayfield Mews, CreweDear Cheshire East Highways, I am concerned about the ongoing parking problems on and around Mayfield Mews, Crewe. At present, vehicles are regularly parked along the entire length of the entrance road to Mayfield Mews and on the bends, causing a number of serious issues, including: Obstructed visibility, especially when entering or exiting onto Minshull New Road Safety risks due to poor sight lines and the narrowing of the road Congestion, with cars often having to reverse to pass one another Access difficulties for emergency services, particularly in reaching the Mayfield Mews care home While I understand that many of these vehicles are parked legally (except within 10 metres of the junction), the current situation is unsafe and unsustainable. I support the efforts made by Cllr James Pratt to find a solution and understand that he has met with both Bentley Motors and Cheshire East Highways to explore options for introducing parking restrictions. I would like to add my voice to this and ask that Cheshire East Council urgently considers implementing appropriate parking controls to address these concerns and improve safety for all road users, residents and care home visitors. Please treat this letter as a formal expression of support for action on this matter.
