I took a walk over to Underwood Lane this week to see the resurfacing works I’ve been campaigning for. After many months (in fact years!) of raising the issue and a site meeting with highways earlier this year, it’s fantastic to see the repairs finished – no more potholes or crumbling speed bumps. It’s such a relief to know that people using the road can now travel safely and comfortably.
I’ve spoken to a number of residents along Underwood Lane over the past year, and many shared stories of damaged tyres, bumpy rides, and even people avoiding the road altogether. Seeing it now smooth and safe is not just a job done, it’s a real improvement for people’s daily lives.

Moments like this remind me why persistence matters. It’s taken months of meetings, phone calls, and follow-ups to get here, and I know there’s still more to do. But seeing the road completed, and knowing the positive impact it has on people’s daily lives, makes it all worthwhile.

There’s still plenty more on my list, and I will keep pushing for the repairs and improvements our area needs. My continued ambition is to be a councillor who gets things done, delivering real, tangible improvements that make a difference to the community I live in and care about.

If you spot a highways issue, let me know or report it online here
