I’m really pleased to see new LED sports floodlighting installed at Leighton Brook Park this week.
A little while ago, I raised the issue with a couple of the original floodlights not working properly. I also asked for investment in the facility to replace the old lighting with modern LED floodlights.
I’m pleased that this has now been delivered.
It was great to catch up with Jack and Charlie from KDE while they were working on the installation this week. They were brilliant and worked really hard to overcome any issues they came across during the installation and make sure everything was spot on before they finished.

The new LED lights should need less maintenance than the old system and, importantly, they use significantly less electricity. With the cost of electricity being what it is, that should also help reduce the ongoing cost of running the facility.
As we head into the darker evenings, having properly working floodlights is particularly important. The MUGA is well used by local young people and having good lighting means they can continue to use the facility for sport and activities during the evenings.

The MUGA is also used every Friday at 5pm for Street Sports, with free sessions for young people run by Wishing Well. I’ve been along to a number of their sessions over the years and it’s great to see the facility being used by local young people.

There’s still more I want to see done at Leighton Brook Park, but getting the floodlights upgraded is another improvement that will make a real difference to the people who use the park.
I’ll continue to keep pushing for further improvements and investment in our local facilities.
