CGL – Free Support for Drug and Alcohol Recovery in Crewe

Posted on 5 June 2025

If you or someone you know is struggling with drug or alcohol use, there is free and confidential support available locally in Crewe.

Change Grow Live provides personalised care designed to meet individual needs. Whether you prefer to attend workshops, structured group sessions, or one-to-one meetings, their dedicated team will tailor the support to suit you.

The service is easy to access and open to anyone in need. You can visit their centre at Delamere Street, Crewe CW1 2JZ (near the Savers store) for advice and assistance.

This free service aims to help people on their recovery journey, offering a safe, non-judgemental environment where you can get the support required to make positive changes.

The Importance of Local Recovery Services

Recent data underscores the importance of accessible support services:

  • Substance Misuse in Cheshire East: A review highlighted a high prevalence of co-morbidity among those attending mental health services and both drug and alcohol treatment services. Many individuals use substances as a means of self-medication, and older individuals with long-term alcohol problems or habitual users require different treatment approaches.

  • Alcohol Dependency: Over 14,000 people in Cheshire East are classed as “high risk” with regards to alcohol consumption, and approximately 3,500 are alcohol dependent.

  • Drug-Related Deaths: In 2021, Cheshire East reported 30 drug-related deaths, a significant increase from 14 in 2020. This corresponds to a death rate of 5.5 per 100,000, up from 3.3 per 100,000 in 2020.
